A few weeks before Game Developers Conference 2020 was supposed to take place in San Francisco, the event was suddenly cancelled due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Led by WINGS Interactive, a group of games companies and fundraisers came together to raise the GDC Relief Fund to directly assist indie game developers with their non-refundable GDC travel costs.

Their generosity was such that an accelerator program for indie game developers was able to be established with the remaining funds.

This accelerator program, operated by the online game development bootcamp Code Coven, is

ELEVATE 2020: GDC Relief Fund Accelerator

is a 14-week global online incubator for indie game developers impacted by COVID-19 and the resulting cancellations.

The program will launch in September 2020

Milestone-based Stipends

for struggling indie game developers and provide them with:

Meaningful Game Prototype Progression

Business Fundamentals

Valuable Industry Connections

ELEVATE 2020 is open to individuals and developer teams from all demographic backgrounds and all countries who have an existing project or strong prototype.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a financial need or lack of opportunity due to the COVID-19 crisis. Projects should be independent and not signed with a publisher.
